Online Therapy 

Megan is a Virtual Provider, which means all therapy services are provided online through a secure HIPAA Video TeleHealth platform. With Online Therapy, Megan can provide Sex Therapy or Sexualities Education anyone living in Indiana, allowing more folx to access specialized care. Online services allows clients to receive therapy from the comfort of their own home or from their private work office. Many clients feel Online Therapy is more convenient than traditional in-person therapy. Plus, Online Therapy is just as effective, if not more effective, than in-person therapy. Megan Neitling (she/they pronouns) specializes in providing Mental Health Therapy, AASECT Certified Sex Therapy and Sexualities Education to Couples, Partners, and Individuals via TeleHealth. Megan is one of ten AASECT Certified Sex Therapists (CST) within Indiana.  

About Megan: Background & Training

Megan is described as kind, caring, bubbly, Queer, sex positive, body positive, kink/fetish affirming, non-monogamy affirming, culturally competent, & open-minded.

They acquired years of training and education to obtain the necessary skills and knowledge to provide specialized clinical services.

Megan specializes in Couples and Partners Therapy. They have advanced clinical education, training and experience working with couples or partners to improve sexual, emotional, and relational issues. Megan is LGBTQIAP+ affirming and provides services to the Queer community. They advertise their clinical services on OutCare, the LGBTQ Healthcare Resource. Megan is affirming and knowledgeable about Polyamory and variations of Ethical NonMonogamy. They are listed on the PolyFriendly directory. Megan has additional clinical training with Kinks and Fetishes. They are listed on the National Coalition for Sexual Freedom (NCSF) as a Kink-Knowledgeable clinician. Megan also provides Infertility support. They assist individuals, couples or partners through the physical and emotional challenges of fertility treatments (IUI, IVF, Embryo Adoption, Surrogacy). 

Megan is an AASECT Certified Sex Therapist (CST). To become AASECT Certified, Megan was accepted into a PhD program in Human Sexuality where they obtained 150+ hours of specialized clinical training in Sex Therapy and Human Sexuality. They completed 300+ clinical hours providing Sex Therapy and obtained 50+ hours of Sex Therapy Supervision.

Megan is a PhD Candidate in Human Sexuality at the California Institute of Integral Studies in San Francisco, California. They attended Indiana State University and obtained a Master’s of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. They also received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology from Indiana University with a minor in Women’s Studies (Gender Studies). 

Megan is currently writing their dissertation for their PhD. Megan’s dissertation is a historical analysis of Sexuality Education within Mental Health training programs. Megan wrote, and published, a chapter about the DSM’s Medicalization of Sexuality and Gender for an anthology on glocal sexual literacy titled Locating Critical Sexuality (2021).

Megan’s Approach To Treatment 

Megan believes anyone seeking Mental Health services, Sex Therapy, or Sexualities Education deserves accurate and comprehensive information. 

During clinical treatment, Megan’s techniques and interventions will be customized for your specific needs to meet your goals. Therapy will focus on solutions to your concerns through the use of intentional therapeutic interventions. Megan believes in a collaborative and client-centered approach to treatment. They utilize feedback from the client(s) to tailor the therapy services while focusing on the therapeutic relationship and the empathic connection with the client(s).

Megan is an integrative therapist, meaning they use a variety of interventions and clinical tools during treatment. Megan utilizes techniques from Sensate Focus, Family/Marital Systems, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Feminist Theory, The Gottman Method, Emotionally Focused Therapy, Non-Violent Communication, Mindfulness, Solution Focused Brief Therapy, & more.

Megan’s Position on Sex & Porn Addiction

Megan does not believe in diagnosing, or treating, folx with a “Sex Addiction” or “Porn Addiction”. However, Megan does treat clients with Out of Control Sexual Behavior. Megan can discuss appropriate, and ethical, treatment options during a consultation. Megan agrees with AASECT that “linking sexual urges, thoughts or behaviors to a porn or sexual addiction cannot be advanced as a standard of practice for Sexuality Education or Sex Therapy”.
