Clinical Limitations & Referrals:

Megan will refer clients out to an appropriate therapist if a client presents with the following as a primary clinical concern: sexual abuse or trauma, substance use, or personality disorders.

Megan does not believe in diagnosing, or treating, folx with a “Sex Addiction” or “Porn Addiction”. However, Megan does treat clients with Out of Control Sexual Behavior. Megan can discuss appropriate, and ethical, treatment options during a consultation.

Megan Neitling (she/they) specializes in providing Mental Health Therapy, Sex Therapy and Sexualities Education to individuals, couples, partners, and groups. Megan is one of nine AASECT Certified Sex Therapists (CST) within Indiana

TeleHealth Services 

Due to COVID, Megan is a virtual provider which means all therapy services are provided online through a secure TeleHealth Video platform. TeleHealth allows clients to receive therapy from the comfort of their own home or from their private work office. Many clients feel TeleHealth is more convenient than traditional in-person therapy. Plus, clients often feel TeleHealth is just as effective, if not more effective, than in-person therapy.  Learn more about TeleHealth in my Practice Policies & Information.

About Megan: Background & Training

Megan describes themself as kind, caring, bubbly, Queer, sex positive, body positive, culturally competent, & open-minded.

They acquired years of training to obtain the necessary skills and knowledge to provide specialized clinical services. 

Megan is LGBTQIAP+ affirming and provides services to the Queer community. They advertise their clinical services on OutCare, the LGBTQ Healthcare Resource. Megan is affirming and knowledgeable about Polyamory and variations of Non-Monogamy. They are listed on the PolyFriendly provider directory. Megan has additional clinical training with Kinks/Fetishes. They are listed on the National Coalition for Sexual Freedom (NCSF) as a Kink-Knowledgeable Clinician. Megan also has experience working with infertility. They assist individuals, couples, or partners through fertility treatments (IUI/IVF)

Megan is an AASECT Certified Sex Therapist (CST). To become an AASECT Certified Sex Therapist, Megan was accepted into a PhD program in Human Sexuality where they obtained 150+ hours of specialized clinical training in Sex Therapy and Human Sexuality, experienced 12 hours of a Sexual Attitude Reassessment (SAR), completed 300+ clinical hours providing Sex Therapy, and obtained 50+ hours of Sex Therapy Supervision. Megan is currently a full time PhD student studying Human Sexuality at the California Institute of Integral Studies in San Francisco, California. They attended Indiana State University and obtained a Master’s of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. They also received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology from Indiana University with a minor in Women’s Studies. 

Megan is currently writing their dissertation proposal for their PhD. Megan also wrote and published a chapter about the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual’s (DSM) Medicalization of Sex and Gender for an anthology on Glocal Sexual Literacy.

Megan believes anyone seeking Mental Health services, Sex Therapy, or Sexualities Education deserves accurate and comprehensive information. 

During clinical treatment, Megan’s techniques and interventions will be customized to meet your specific needs. Therapy will focus on solutions for your concerns. They believe in a collaborative approach to treatment.

Megan is an integrative therapist, meaning they use a variety of approaches during treatment. Megan also believes in a client-centered approach to treatment. They focus on the therapeutic relationship and the empathic connection with the client(s). Megan utilizes interventions or techniques from Mindfulness, Solution Focused Brief Therapy, Sensate Focus, Family/Marital Systems, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Feminist Theory, The Gottman Method, Emotionally Focused Therapy, & more.
